Search and book flights across every airline in one place, with your travel policy, negotiated discounts, and loyalty information automatically applied.
Before You Start
- Traveler profile complete: Loyalty account and secure traveler information must be saved in your traveler profile to auto-populate at checkout.
- Booking for another traveler: You must be a Coordinator or Administrator to book on behalf of someone else.
- Travel policy: Your company travel policy is applied automatically. If you select something outside of policy, you'll see an alert and be asked to provide a reason at checkout.
⚠ Important: AmTrav filters results to show only the best flights based on your search. If you can't find a specific airline or departure time, use the filters to narrow by airline and departure window before concluding a flight is unavailable.
How to Book a Flight
Step 1: Open Flight Search. Select Flights & Rail from the main menu to start a new booking.
Step 2: Enter your search details. Select a trip type (Round Trip, One Way, or Multi City), then enter your origin, destination, and travel dates. You can also narrow things down with these optional filters:
- Departure times, cabin class, specific airlines, number of stops, and refundable fares only
- Multi City: select Add Another Flight to add up to four legs
- Booking for another traveler: select the name next to Traveler to choose a registered traveler or enter a new traveler's details
- Repeating a search: your recent searches and any unused tickets are available on the search page
Select Search to view results.
Step 3: Select a flight and fare. Results display one flight per row and one fare type per column, from Basic Economy on the left to premium Flat Bed on the right. Here's what you can use to evaluate your options:
- Sort: Results are sorted by fewest stops, then earliest departure by default. Use the sort control to change the order.
- Filter: Narrow results by airline, departure time, number of stops, airports, and amenities (Wi-Fi, in-seat power, entertainment).
- Fare details: Select a fare brand name (e.g. "Main Cabin" or "Delta Comfort+") to see what's included. To compare fares side by side, hover over the brand name to access the Compare feature.
- Policy indicators: Results show which fares are in policy, which airlines are company-preferred, and which fares have negotiated discounts.
- Seat map preview: Preview available seats before selecting a flight. Learn more about seat selection.
Select the price for the flight and fare you want. Repeat for each leg if booking a Round Trip or Multi City itinerary.
Step 4: Review your selection. Check the fare rules and what's included on the review page. You can also select any Add Ons offered by the airline. If your selection is out of policy, you'll see an alert with alternative in-policy options. Select Continue when you're ready.
Step 5: Enter traveler and payment details. On the booking page:
- Your traveler information, loyalty account, and secure traveler information will auto-populate from your traveler profile if previously saved
- Apply any unused tickets if available
- Enter a trip title, any alternate confirmation email addresses, and any required company billing fields
Select Purchase to complete your reservation.
Step 6: After you book. From the Trip Summary page you can:
- Select seats
- Add a hotel or add a rental car
- Email or print your itinerary, or add it to your calendar
- Change or cancel your flight
Void window: Most flights can be cancelled for a full refund until midnight of the next business day after booking.
Step 7: Confirmation and ticketing. Here's what to expect after you select Purchase:
- If your company requires pre-trip approval, AmTrav will automatically notify your approver before ticketing. Your confirmation email will follow once approved — so allow some extra time.
- If no approval is required, your booking is ticketed right away and you'll receive a confirmation email shortly.
