How do I change my trip?

You can change one or more components of an existing trip (flight, rail, hotel, or car) directly in AmTrav — no need to contact an advisor.

Before You Start

  • Trip not yet started: You can only change components that haven't begun yet (departure, check-in, or pickup). Anything already completed or in progress can't be changed online.
  • Online changes aren't always available: Some airline, rail, or complex changes can't be made online. If that's the case, AmTrav will offer an Advisor Assistance option instead.
  • Trip must be in AmTrav: The trip needs to have been booked through AmTrav and visible in your Trips list.

How to Change a Trip

Step 1: Go to your trips. Select Trips from the main menu, or select View Trip from the homepage.

Step 2: Open the trip. Find the trip using search or sort, then select View/Modify.

Step 3: Start the change. On the Trip Details page, select Change or Cancel on the component you want to update, or for the full itinerary.

Step 4: Choose what to change. Select Change for each component (flight, rail, hotel, or car) you want to update, or Cancel for anything you want to remove. Enter your new search details for each component being changed, then select Check Options.

Step 5: Search for your new options. AmTrav will take you to a cart page where you can search for each component you're updating. Select Find My New Flight, Find My New Hotel, or Find My New Car for each one. If you're simply extending or shortening a hotel stay or car rental, AmTrav automatically searches for the same property, room, rate, vendor, location, and car type — so you don't have to start from scratch.

Note: If you're only changing one component, AmTrav skips the cart page and takes you straight to results — go to Step 6.

Step 6: Pick your new itinerary. Browse and filter results just like you would in a normal flight, hotel, or car search. You can sort options, switch between Best or Other Airlines, and select a fare or rate to confirm your new component. If a ticket credit applies, it will be shown below the fare. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for each component you're changing.

Step 7: Confirm your changes. Review your new itinerary and the change rules. Check the agreement checkbox. If your selection is out of policy, you'll need to provide a reason and explanation. Select Confirm Trip Changes when you're ready.
